How we calculated this
In September 2026, we reviewed publicly available pricing and product information for fresh frozen dog foods from major retailers such as Chewy and Petco, and directly from brands' websites.
We calculated price per pound to compare different package sizes. The subscription comparison uses Better Than Me's $21.59 per 2.25 lb pack against competitors' recurring-order pricing.
For protein, we compared Crude Protein (min) percentages listed in each product's Guaranteed Analysis. Better Than Me's 11% minimum crude protein is based on our independently lab-tested Guaranteed Analysis. These are as-fed label values; moisture and calorie content can differ between products.
We focused on fresh frozen dog foods with fixed package sizes and publicly available prices. Products without the information needed for the relevant price comparison were excluded.
