Our recipe was developed in collaboration with a veterinarian specializing in canine nutrition and is formulated to meet the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for Adult Maintenance.

The recipe was developed using commercial diet-formulation software designed for use by pet food formulators and veterinary nutrition professionals. The software calculates the nutrient contribution of each ingredient using data from USDA and other established food-composition databases. The complete formulation is evaluated against AAFCO nutrient minimums and, where established, maximums for adult maintenance.

The formulation evaluates essential amino acids, fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals individually, in addition to macronutrient composition and relevant nutrient ratios. Ingredient selections in the formulation are matched as closely as possible to the specific ingredients and forms used in production.

We then used an accredited independent laboratory to test the finished product for the Guaranteed Analysis. Results of that testing are provided below.

Typically wild-caught whiting, skin-on and boneless. We may include other species of wild-caught whitefish such as cod and pollock depending on market availability.

Better Than Me is produced in small batches in a licensed commercial kitchen. Production is overseen by a manager who has completed the Food Industry Alliance of New York State Food Safety Training Program for Managers.

Raw animal ingredients are cooked to established safe internal temperatures, with temperatures monitored during production.

Each production run is prepared in controlled batches, with production records maintained for traceability and consistency. Finished food is cooled, portioned, packaged, and frozen following production.

Better Than Me is produced in accordance with applicable New York State requirements for commercial pet food.
